Delhi boy tops JEE Main exam, girls get just 147 of top 1,000 ranks

The All India Rankings are based on JEE Main score (60% weightage) and Class 12 scores (40% weightage). Admissions to BE and B Tech courses in engineering colleges like NITs and IIITs are made on the basis of these rankings. Of the top 1,000 ranks, girls secured only 147.
Pratyush Maini secured the second position and Rajesh Bansal the third, as boys locked out the top 10 positions.
Jindal, a student of SD Public School in Pitampura, had scored 98.6 in the CBSE Class 12 boards — including perfect scores in mathematics and physics, 99 in chemistry and computer science and 95 in English. Jindal scored 321 out of 360 in IIT Main.
“Everyone said the math paper was tough but for me, it was fine. I completed it in two-and-a-half hours. So, I think difficulty level is a relative term,” said Jindal.
The top-scorer is headed for IIT-Delhi where he plans to study computer science. “I secured a rank of 53 in the JEE Advanced, so I will be joining IIT-Delhi,” the Shalimar Bagh resident said.
The son of a private tutor and homemaker is proud of the fact that he is the first in his family to make it to the IITs. He has a younger sister. Had he not qualified for IIT, Jindal said, he would have opted for Delhi Technological University.
