Three roads proposed over Hindon to connect Noida, Greater Noida

The Noida and Greater Noida authorities have planned to construct three new roads between the two cities to improve connectivity.

The Noida and Greater Noida authorities have planned to construct three new roads between the two cities to improve connectivity. The planned road networks will include construction of three bridges over the Hindon river, Greater Noida authority said. The Hindon separates Noida and Greater Noida.

Officials said that the objective of constructing three new roads is to decongest the existing roads of Noida, including the 25-km Noida-Greater Noida Expressway. During peak hours, around 15,000 vehicles ply on one lane of the expressway, according to estimates. Officials said that the heavy flow of vehicles causes congestion and hinders motorists.

“I have proposed three new roads because vehicular pressure on the Noida expressway and the two other main roads -- Dadri-Surajpur-Chhalera Road and Noida Extension road -- will increase manifold in the next 3-4 years. Therefore, we will have to be prepared well in advance. We plan to build the bridges first and then connect these bridges with approach roads,” Deepak Agarwal, chief executive officer (CEO) of the Greater Noida authority, said.

The Greater Noida authority CEO, Deepak Agarwal, general manager of Greater Noida authority, Rajiv Tyagi, and Noida’s chief architect and town planner, SC Gaur, among other officials, discussed the project in the Greater Noida authority office on Friday.

“We will discuss the three road projects in detail with senior officials and take these important projects forward as these (roads) are very important for better connectivity between the two cities. We will also incorporate the locations of these three new roads and bridges in our Master Plan,” Gaur said.

Once the bridges are ready, alignment of roads will be finalised and the construction on these important links will be started by the two authorities.
