1)Why was Dhoni promoted ahead of Yuvraj in 2011 World Cup final? Sachin Tendulkar revealed that the idea to send Dhoni up the order first came in his mind. He then asked Sehwag, who was sitting next to him inside the dressing room to go to the balcony and convey the message to captain MS Dhoni and coach Gary Kirsten. The reason was to keep the right and left combination going in the middle when Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir were at the crease. (Getty Images)

2)Sehwag wasn’t allowed a toilet-break in the 2011 World Cup final: Virender Sehwag revealed that he was not allowed to move from his seat beside Sachin Tendulkar, not even for a toilet-break during the World Cup 2011 final against Sri Lanka. Tendulkar had ordered him not to move an inch during the entire Indian chase. Whether it played any part in India’s chase is a different discussion altogether but Sehwag at that point had no choice but to obey Tendulkar.

3)I’m here to play: Mohammad Kaif’s daring act in NatWest final - After India had lost half their side in the NatWest final the onus was on young shoulders of Mohammad Kaif and Yuvraj Singh. As the required rate was climbing, captain Sourav Ganguly screamed from the Lord’s balcony to direct Kaif to bring the ‘big-hitter’ Yuvraj on strike. Kaif, motivated by that, hit the next ball for six and walked up to Yuvraj to say: “Hum bhi khelne aye hai”. Ganguly did not give instructions from the balcony after that six.

5)Sachin vs McGrath: During the Adelaide Test in 1999, the Australians, especially Glenn McGrath had planned to dry out Sachin Tendulkar’s runs by bowling outside the off stump and make him play away from his body. Sachin revealed that he had told McGrath to go and keep bowling like that for the entire day as he wasn’t going to play a flashy shot. The little master returned the next day to take boundaries easily.
