Photos: Covid deaths in Delhi cross 1,000 in a record single day spike

In the biggest spike in coronavirus fatalities seen so far in Delhi, numbers surged past the 1,000 mark on June 11. The city reported 101 new deaths as well as 1,877 new infections, setting a new record for single-day numbers. Delhi, like most other parts of the country, began Phase 1 of the Unlock this week, which has allowed malls, salons and religious places to re-open in addition to several other activities that were approved last month. With 20,871 active cases and a doubling rate of 12.6 days, the government has begun preparations to have at least 150,000 beds in Delhi’s COVID-19 health care by the end of July.
