Photos: At 2 deaths every 3 minutes, India’s Covid fatalities at 51,797

The Union Health Ministry issued a report stating that 2 people died of coronavirus every 3 minutes in the country in a span of 24 hours between August 16 and August 17. These numbers added a total of 941 deaths which took the number of fatalities from Covid-19 in the country past the 50,000 mark. The report also mentioned that despite a continuous rise in cases, India’s recovery rate has been on a constant upward trend. It stands at 73.18% as of August 18 while the Case Fatality Rate (CFR) has now come down to a 1.92%.
