Photos: Cold winds push temperatures down over Northwest India
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts minimum temperatures over northwest India as likely to fall by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius during the next 2 days. A similar fall over central and west India is expected from December 15. The shift in temperatures is believed to be climatological and also due to the passing of two western disturbances that have brought widespread snowfall to the Western Himalayas. The disturbances have bundled relief concerning air quality with the drop in temperatures, woth most cities and towns in northwest India recording moderate to poor category air on December 14. Delhi recorded an overall air quality index of 160 in the moderate category for the day.
