Photos: Delhi gears up as COVID-19 cases cross 50,000 mark

With a record 3,137 new coronavirus cases, Delhi crossed the 50,000 mark on June 19. Experts have predicted that there will be 100,000 cases by the end of this month. Later in the day on June 19, Lieutenant-General Anil Baijal ordered a mandatory five-day institutional quarantine for Covid-19 patients in Delhi under home quarantine. At present, the city has 12,208 beds earmarked for treating Covid-19 patients in government and private hospitals. The government is also working on setting up makeshift hospitals in stadiums and banquet halls to increase bed strength to 15,000.
