Photos: Five storey building collapses in Maharashtra’s Mahad
A decade old five-storey building collapsed in Mahad town of Raigad district on August 24 evening. While a few managed to move to safer places when the incident took place, 25 people were feared trapped under the debris from the collapse. Police and NDRF teams were rushed to carry out rescue operations. 12 people are reported to be dead while among the rescued was a 4-year-old boy. The Maharashtra government has announced an ex-gratia of ₹ 5 lakh each to the families of the deceased and a case has been registered against the builders.
