Photos: India nears 4.5 lakh Covid-19 cases; over 14,000 dead

India’s mounting Covid-19 caseload crossed the 440,000 mark yesterday after a sobering weekend that saw the highest day-on-day spike in fatalities at 427 on June 21. Maharashtra and Delhi continue to bear the worst of the pandemic in the country –both territories devising aggressive strategies to reign in infections and ease burdened health care systems. Tamil Nadu, the third most affected region, has clamped down on high-risk areas by imposing strict lockdowns till June 30.
