The United States celebrated the 4th of July with fireworks, parades and carnivals as the country recovers from the coronavirus pandemic that has nixed large gatherings for more than a year.

Tribals and farmers affected by the Ken-Betwa river-linking project stage a symbolic Chita Andolan (pyre protests), Jal Satyagraha and hanging satyagraha by placing nooses around their necks, over their demands of better compensation and rehabilitation, in Chhatarpur district, Madhya Pradesh. New Delhi woke up to light rain, drizzle and breezy conditions on Friday morning, with the weather department issuing a yellow alert for the day. The alert signalled the possibility of moderate weather disruptions and urged residents to stay cautious.
