Incessant rain lashes parts of country, flood situation remains critical in Assam

Heavy rain has disrupted normal life in several parts of the country especially the northeastern states. Situation remains grim in flood-hit parts of Assam, leaving over millions affected. Assam, one of the worst-hit areas, is set to see continuous heavy rainfall this week, according to the India Meteorological Department.(ANI)

Among the worst affected districts of Assam, Barpeta with a population of 12,30,721 is reeling under flood waters followed by Darrang where 4,69,241people have been hit and Bajali where 3,38515 have been affected, according to the bulletin issued by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA).(PTI)

Several trains have been cancelled by the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) on June 21 due to the floods in Assam and the damage to railway properties in parts of Bihar amid protests over the Agnipath scheme.(ANI)
