RCB vs DC, IPL 2025: KL Rahul masterclass fires Delhi Capitals to six-wicket win

Delhi Capitals seemed to have lost their way in a chase of 164 but KL Rahul went through the gears perfectly to ultimately lead them to a comprehensive win.

KL Rahul smashed an unbeaten 93 in 53 balls as he first stopped Delhi Capitals' sink and then switched gears to end up powering them to a six-wicket win over the Royal Challengers Benglauru (RCB) at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. DC have now started the season off with four consecutive wins while RCB have lost both of the first two matches they have played at home while ending streaks at the Chepauk Stadium and Wankhede Stadium.  (AP)

RCB were put to bat first and early on, the sky seemed to be the limit as a belligerent Phil Salt helped them cross 50 in just three overs. This included a 30-run over off Mitchell Starc in the third.  (ANI)

However, Salt was run out in the very next over and RCB never recovered from that. They took eight more overs to score 50 more runs and cross 100.  (ANI)

KL Rahul stayed a constant throughout, although took his time to get going. Rahul had been demoted back down the order due to the return of Faf du Plessis as opener; the former had scored a 51-ball 77 as a makeshift opener in DC's last game.  (PTI)

Tristan Stubbs joined Rahul in the ninth over when DC captain Axar Patel fell and the score was 58/4. RCB were well on top but DC ended up not losing a single wicket from there. Stubbs finished with a score of 38 in 23 balls.  (AP)

Rahul shifted gears right after crossing his fifty in 37 balls. Rain made a brief appearance at the start of the 15th over in which Rahul smashed Josh Hazlewood for 22 runs in the 15th and RCB were completely flattened after that.  (PTI)

The match lasted just over three more overs after that, with Rahul and Stubbs dramatically upping the ante. DC needed 18 to win in the 18th over and Rahul finished it off with one ball remaining in it.  (ANI)
