Savitribai Phule Pune University’s 113th convocation today
Dnyaneshwar Mulay, the current secretary in the ministry of external affairs (MEA), will be present on the occasion to deliver the convocation speech. Nitin Karmalkar, vice-chancellor, will be the chief guest at the convocation.
Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) is going to hold its 113th convocation ceremony on June 1. The ceremony will begin at 5 pm on the varsity campus, where a total of 11 students will be felicitated with gold medals for their academic excellence.

A total of 104 PhDs, 54 MPhils, 63 postgraduate diplomas, 3,994 graduate degrees, 3,006 postgraduate degrees and 21 diploma certificates will be awarded at the occasion. As per the University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines, a total of 7,242 students passing out in the 2016-17 academic year or earlier will be given degrees, during the ceremony.
Established in 1949 under the Poona University Act, Pune University occupies an area of about 411 acres, and houses more than forty academic departments. The varsity has almost 307 recognised research institutes and 612 affiliated colleges that offer graduate and undergraduate courses.
