In connection to the murder of a transgender woman at Mohammadwadi on Monday morning, the police arrested the deceased’s estranged lover on Tuesday. The accused, identified as Arbaz Ahmed Shaikh (20), is a resident of Laxminagar, Yerawada.

According to the police, the victim and the accused were involved in a romantic relationship. The accused allegedly decided to end it, in order to marry another woman. The victim, enraged by this, threatened to go public. In order to put an end to the threats posed by the transgender, the accused killed her by slitting her throat.
The victim, a transgender woman who was born Arbaz alias Nazab Abid Shaikh, was a resident of Sadashivnagar, Mohammadwadi. Inspector (crime) Raosaheb Bhapkar of Wanowrie police station said, “Arbaz killed Nazab as she threatened to spill the beans about their relationship” he said.
The doctors who conducted an examination of Nazab have found that he is not a transgender, but a fully grown male.” he said.
A case has been registered against Arbaz at Wanowrie police station under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code.
