Sources said senior deputy mayor Kamaljit Singh Bhatia and BJP councillor Ravi Mahendru argued with mayor Sunil Jyoti over the patchworks issue for about an hour.

The mayor accused superintending engineer (building & roads) Kulwinder Singh of not conveying the message to the committee members about the patchwork issue, they informed.

Meanwhile, in the F&CC meeting financial provisions for the already running projects were sanctioned and no new major project was given financial assistance. Projects pending before the committee before March 31, 2012 have been cancelled and will be taken up in the next meeting with revised details.

The committee approved to hire a consultant to make detailed project reports (DPRs) for projects of constructing flyovers and elevated roads under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) scheme.

The committee also blacklisted two tubewell contractors due to irregularities.

Mayor Sunil Jyoti, municipal commissioner Manpreet Singh Chattwal, senior deputy mayor Kamaljit Singh Bhatia, deputy mayor Arvinder Kaur Oberoi, BJP councillors Bhagwant Rai Prabhakar, Ravi Mahendru and other MC officials were present in the meeting.
