Rakhi Sawant booked for hurting religious sentiments
The police on Friday booked Bollywood actress Rakhi Sawant for hurting religious sentiments of the Valmiki community.
A case under Section 295A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious belief) has been registered at the Rama Mandi police station on the complaint of Pawan Hans.
Hans, a resident of Basti Danishmandan, who heads the Balmiki Jagriti Sabha Punjab, has filed a complaint against the actress, who had allegedly used derogatory language against Bhagwan Valmiki in an interview.
Station house officer (SHO), Rama Mandi police station, Naresh Kumar Joshi, said police would summon the actress to join the probe.
For the past one week, various Valmiki organisations have been holding several protests across the city. They had blocked the Adampur-Hoshiarpur highway for over an hour.
The Valmiki Tiger Force had also halted the Shatabdi Express coming from Delhi at the railway station demanding action against the actress and had given an ultimatum to the administration to register an FIR against Sawant.
