Balloon, the Jai starrer which released on December 28, received mixed reviews and is currently doing a decent business at the box office. However, the producers of the film, 70 mm Entertainment, has filed a complaint against the lead actor Jai for mental harassment and acting in a way that has led the producers to suffer loss.
The detailed complaint has been submitted to the Tamil Nadu Film Producers’ Council by producers K Nandakumar and TN Arun Balaji. The complaint states that the shoot for the film began in June 2016 and the film was expected to release by January 2017. However, it was delayed multiple times solely because of Jai and his actions. The production house has sought a payment of Rs 1.50 crore.
“Jai did not give us proper dates for the film. And on the days that he had given, he did not come to shoot properly and he did not cooperate with us. This led to the film’s release being postponed to September 2017. After this, he did not turn up for the dubbing properly either and this led to the film being further delayed.”
The letter also accuses Jai of harassing director Sinish that he tried to commit suicide. “Hard work, dedication, respect, obedience, keeping promises are not the characteristics of actor Jai. From shooting spot to dubbing, Jai tortured us so much that director Sinish tried to commit suicide in Kodaikanal. We the producers, and the other crew members bear witness to the fact,” the complaint read.
The complaint also states how Jai lied to the team that his co-star Anjali was suffering from fits and left the sets. He never came back. After speaking to Anjali, the producers realised she had no such problem and it was a story concocted by Jai to leave early because he was annoyed with the producers.
The team has requested the producers council to get Jai to pay them Rs 1.5 crore and ban the actor from acting in other projects.
