65th Jio Filmfare Awards South 2018 was a night of glitz ’n glamour. Check out winners’ list here

Artistes from all the four film industries — Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada — came together to celebrate the best in southern cinema.

The best-known names in cinema from all the south Indian states converged at Hyderabad International Convention Centre, Novotel, on Saturday to celebrate the best in cinema. It was a night of glitz and glamour at the 65th Jio Filmfare Awards South 2018.

The Telugu section of awards was dominated by Baahubali 2: The Conclusion which won many awards including Best Director (SS Rajamouli), Best Actor In A Supporting Role - Male (Rana Daggubati) and Best Actor in a Supporting Role - Female (Ramya Krishnan). Other films that made a mark were Arjun Reddy, Guru and Fidaa with Vijay Deverakonda, Sai Pallavi, Ritika Singh and Venkatesh winning awards for their work.

In the Tamil section, the awards were quite a mix, with films like Aramm, Vikram Vedha, Theeran Adhigaram Ondru, Aruvi, Taramani and Mersal claiming awards.

Mani Ratnam’s ambitious project Kaatru Veliyidai picked up awards for its music. R Madhavan shared the best actor trophy (Critics’ Choice category) with Karthi. While the former got it for Vikram Vedha, the latter was awarded for his work in Theeran Adigaram Ondru. Nayanthara won the Best Actor in a Leading Role (Female) for Aramm while Vijay Sethupathi picked up the Best Actor in a Leading Role (Male) for Vikram Vedha.

In Malayalam movies, films like Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum and Mayaanadhi were the big winners. Actors Parvathi, Fahadh Faasil and Manju Warrier too were felicitated. Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum won awards in categories such as Best Film (Popular), Best Actor In A Leading Role - Male (Popular), Best Actor In A Supporting Role (Male) while Mayaanadhi won many music awards.

In the Kannada section, actors Sruthi Hariharan, Puneeth Rajkumar and Shraddha Srinath were the popular names who won awards.

The film Chowka made a mark picking up three awards — Best Director (Tharun Sudhir), Best Lyrics (Nagendra Prasad) and Best Playback Singer (Female, Anuradha Bhat).
