Kaatrin Mozhi first look: Jyothika’s upcoming film is the remake of Vidya Balan’s Tumhari Sulu.
Jyothika had consciously decided to make films that she connects with. 36 Vayadhinile, the remake of Malayalam hit film How Old Are You, was about a wife who lost herself performing her household duties. She was then seen in Magalir Mattum, which was about three female friends who reconnect in their late 40s after having gone their separate ways as teenagers.
The actor’s upcoming movie, Kaatrin Mozhi, is said to be the remake of Vidya Balan’s Tumhari Sulu. The first look of the film was released on Independence Day, and the first look is just apt. Jyothika introduces her audiences to ‘Ten Commandments for Women’. It reads, “Thou shall wear what you want. Thou shall eat first if you want. Thou shall not turn the other cheek if your husband hits you. Though shall do what you love. Thou shall be fat if you want. Thou shall ask your husband to share household duties. Thou shall earn, give and spend as you want. Thou shall not say yes, when you mean no. Thou shall speak freely. Thou shall know that all men and women are equal.”
Jyothika’s actor-husband Suriya released the first look on Twitter and wrote, “When every day shoot is exciting and special...!! The film becomes immortal!! Can’t wait to watch Jo in this rollercoaster fun ride!!”
While Tumhari Sulu was about a woman who tried to chase her dreams and the societal pressure she was under to take care first of her family before herself, it looks like Kaatrin Mozhi delves much deeper. The fact that the makers released the first look on Independence Day also hints at the kind of film this would be.
The film is produced by G Dhananjayan and directed by Radha Mohan. Jyothika and Radha Mohan have previously worked together in the hit film Mozhi, which was one of Jyothika’s last few movies before she took a break from the industry.
