Nayanthara on a roll, signs another female-centric script sans romance
On a spree to sign projects where she plays the lead, Nayanthara’s latest film is said to be a dark comedy titled Co Co, to be directed by debutant Nelson Dilip Kumar.
It’s been an extremely busy year for Nayanthara, who has already completed work on three projects and has signed two more films to keep the momentum going. With exciting lineup of films such as Aramm, Velaikkaran, Imaikka Nodigal and Kolayuthir Kaalam in her kitty, Nayanthara wants to be the boss of her own films. On a spree to sign projects where she plays the lead, her latest film is said to be a dark comedy titled Co Co, to be directed by debutant Nelson Dilip Kumar and bankrolled by Lyca Productions.
It will be a female-oriented dark comedy on the lines of Nayan’s own Naanum Rowdydhaan, and it will feature her in a role sans any romantic pair. The film will have music by Anirudh Ravichander, who has big ticket flicks such as Vivegam and the yet-untitled Pawan Kalyan’s film in his kitty. Saranya Ponvannan and Yogi Babu have been finalised to play pivotal role while the rest of the cast and crew will be finalised in a couple of week’s time. Meanwhile, Nayanthara has signed a Telugu film with actor Balakrishna and the yet-untitled film will be directed by KS Ravi Kumar.
Interestingly, Nayanthara and Balakrishna are teaming up for the third time after hits such as Simhaa and Sri Rama Rajyam. Lyca Productions, which has so far backed big ticket films such as Kaththi, Rajinikanth’s 2.o and Kamal Haasan’s Sabash Naidu, is also betting on medium budget films such as Co Co and Sai Pallavi’s Karu.
