IndyCar driver David Malukas' personal life has come under intense scrutiny after comments made by NASCAR driver Daniel Dye. Appearing on a stream, Dye jokes about speaking in "David Maluka's gay voice", which led to Kaulig Racing, Dye's promoter, suspending him indefinitely.

Jurkus works as a senior business development and customer success manager at HMD Transport, the logistics company owned by Malukas' father, Henry Malukas. She is reportedly quite close to the Malukas family through both professional and personal links.

{{/usCountry}}Daniel Dye was on a livestream on Whatnot: an online marketplace. He claimed on the stream that he met Malukas at a crossover event between IndyCar and NASCAR.
Recalling the interaction, Dye seemed to suggest that Malukas spoke to him in what he describes as his "gay voice." Subsequently, he imitated the purportedly “gay voice”. It sparked allegations of homophobia against Dye, which led to his indefinite suspension by Kaulig Racing.

“Kaulig Racing has indefinitely suspended driver Daniel Dye, effective immediately, after becoming aware today of comments he made on social media," a statement from the promoter read.
Daniel Dye has since apologized to Malukas, saying: "I chose my words poorly, and I understand why it upset people. I'm sorry to anyone who was offended. That's not how I want to represent myself."
“I have some close friends in the LGBTQ+ community who / would never want to feel less of themselves because of what I said, and that's exactly why I should hold myself to a higher standard,” he added.
“In talking with them, I realize that a true friend would know better than to act the way I did and for that I need to be a better friend.”
