A Mumbai man has struck a nostalgic chord online after creating a website dedicated to the music once commonly heard in old-school Indian barbershops. The quirky project takes users back to the days of inexpensive haircuts, simple hairstyles and neighbourhood “saloons”, long before modern salons became the norm.
Taking to X, Yash Bhardwaj shared a screen recording of the website, which plays songs associated with the familiar atmosphere of traditional Indian barber shops.
“I made a website that plays bangers from Indian barbershops before you became fancy and started visiting salons. You once went to a 'saloon'. ₹20 haircuts. Simple hairstyles with music that could fix your soul.” Bhardwaj wrote while sharing the website.

The website, named “Saloon”, recreates a slice of everyday nostalgia for people who grew up visiting local barber shops, where popular songs playing in the background were often as much a part of the experience as the haircut itself.

Social media users appeared impressed by the simple yet nostalgic idea, with several people praising Bhardwaj for bringing back memories they had almost forgotten.
“Too good man, too good!” wrote one user while reacting to the website.
Another person called the project “the best thing ever”, while a third said, “sent this to so many people”, suggesting that the website had quickly become something users wanted to share with friends.
