Raja Raghuvanshi’s family celebrates newborn’s arrival with dance, firecrackers: ‘God has sent Raja back’

The family of Raja Raghuvanshi, who was allegedly killed by his wife Sonam during their honeymoon, has welcomed the arrival of a baby boy with much fanfare.

The family of Raja Raghuvanshi, who was allegedly killed by his wife Sonam during their honeymoon, has welcomed the arrival of a baby boy with much fanfare. The boy was born to Raja Raghuvanshi’s elder brother Sachin and his wife.

Raja’s family believes that he has returned to them in the form of a newborn. “God has sent Raja back to us,” his brother Vipin Raghuvanshi said, calling the timing of the birth significant.

According to the family, Raja was murdered on Gyaras, the eleventh day of the lunar fortnight. Sachin Raghuvanshi’s son was born nine months later, on the same day and at nearly the same time.

Family welcomes newborn

Raja Raghuvanshi’s cousin, Shrasti Raghuwanshi, shared glimpses of the pomp and show with which the newborn was brought home from the hospital. One video that she shared on Instagram shows family members dancing with joy as the baby is brought home. The same video also shows family members posing with the baby and Raja’s portrait.

Another video shows family members cheering “Raja, Raja” while Raja Raghuvanshi’s mother held the newborn in her arms.

Who was Raja Raghuvanshi?

Raja Raghuvanshi was an Indore-based transport businessman who was murdered in May 2025 during his honeymoon in Meghalaya. His wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, was accused of conspiring with contract killers to murder him.

The couple were reported missing during their honeymoon in Meghalaya on May 23, 2025. On June 2, Raghuvanshi's body was found in a deep gorge close to a waterfall in the Sohra area.

As the search continued for Sonam, she emerged in Uttar Pradesh's Ghazipur, around 1,200 km away from the crime spot, in the early hours of June 9 and surrendered before police.
