As Oracle underwent a massive workforce reduction, stories of the personal impact on employees started to surface on social media. One particularly striking case involves a software engineer and a mother who is currently 30 weeks pregnant. Her husband slammed the company for laying off his wife through a morning email. Reportedly, the affected employees received an email from the company leadership at 6 am.
The husband, who works as a senior account executive, wrote on LinkedIn, “My wife is 30 weeks pregnant. This morning Oracle laid her off by email.”

He continued, “She didn't walk in off the street. She interned there twice. She earned her spot on that team.”
Expressing his concerns, the individual posted, “She went full time and never stopped giving more than what was asked. She built products, shipped code, created content for Oracle's own channels, mentored interns, and ran social evangelism for FreeSQL using her own audience.”
In the following lines, he criticised Oracle's handling of the layoffs. “This morning she woke up locked out of every Oracle system she had access to. No call. No meeting. No manager. No warning. Just an email. And a DocuSign. That's it. That's how they did it. We have a 17 month old at home. And Oracle couldn't pick up the phone.”

Highlighting her resilience and expertise despite the sudden exit, he shared a call to action for recruiters. “If you are hiring in software engineering or technical product management… she is ready for what's next.”
The woman also shared a LinkedIn post on her personal LinkedIn profile about her layoff. She wrote, “Today, I was impacted by Oracle’s layoffs. It’s a strange feeling, but I’m incredibly proud of what I was able to build over the past 4 years, from intern to full-time, and grateful for the experience, mentors, and teammates along the way.”

Explaining her work experience and thanking her mentors, she announced that she was looking forward to new opportunities.
“We are sharing some difficult news regarding your position. After careful consideration of Oracle's current business needs, we have made the decision to eliminate your role as part of a broader organizational change. As a result, today is your last working day,” read a part of the layoff email, as reviewed by Business Insider.
It continued, “We are grateful for your dedication, hard work, and the impact you have made during your time with us. After signing your termination paperwork, you will be eligible to receive a severance package subject to the terms and conditions of the severance plan. You will receive an email from DocuSign to your Oracle email address with details on your severance and termination date.”
