Life in a high-rise apartment may offer convenience and access to a big city, but it can also leave some people longing for the openness and sense of belonging associated with their hometowns. A woman has sparked a conversation online after sharing her thoughts on high-rise living and questioning whether moving to a metropolitan city for work is always worth the trade-off.

High-rise life versus a home of your own

Taking to Instagram, Diksha Gupta shared a video from her balcony, showing a settlement located across the road from her residential society. She reflected on the contrast between the two ways of living and spoke about how city life can sometimes feel confined despite being surrounded by modern buildings.

"Across the road, what you see is the settlement right next to our society. Standing here in my balcony, I often think about which life is better: that life where the land and the roof are yours, or these high-rise buildings where our entire life passes away in just a small balcony? Leaving our own cities, we come to such big cities and end up surrounded on all sides by these buildings. I often wonder what is even there in these buildings—there are neither feelings nor emotions. Even the beauty of the weather is not visible."

"Just one fixed view hanging from a balcony—the same trees, the same area, the same everything. Even the slice of the sky is fixed for us. I have never liked this life, but to work hard, to earn a living, one has to leave their own hometowns and move to other cities. And this is life."
