Actor Amol Parasher can’t thank the makers of his web series, Tripling, enough, for it changed his life for good. The 28-year-old had made his debut in Bollywood with Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Rocket Singh: Salesman Of The Year in 2009, but it’s the web series that got him the recognition he desired. And, he thanks the content for that. The series traced the story of three siblings on a quest to find themselves and their relations.
“In the case of Tripling, we had the confidence and we believed in what we wanted to make. Having said that, we were nervous, too. You can never anticipate such things. No one knows what will be successful or not,” says Amol.
What led to the popularity of the web series? “Word of mouth,” says the actor, adding, “Friends told their friends about it and why they liked it, and more people started watching it. Even now, when season 1 is over, people are getting to know about it and are falling in love with it.”
The actor, who has a role alongside actor Swara Bhasker in the upcoming film, Aapke Kamrey Mein Koi Rehta Hai, reveals that the web series’ makers are planning a second season, but it could take time to materialise. “A lot of stuff is happening. There are some interesting thoughts in the pipeline, and the process of finalising something is on,” he says.
Asked if a gap between two seasons will have any effect on the show’s popularity, Amol says, “You can’t say that just because there’s been a gap [between two seasons], it won’t work. Sometimes, it won’t work, if you announce the second season in quick succession. And besides that, you don’t want to end up making the second season just for the heck of it. Writers will take time to write and develop ideas.”
