Actor Megha Dhade emerged as Bigg Boss Marathi winner on Sunday’s grand finale episode. She trumped Pushkar Jog to emerge as the winner of the first season of Bigg Boss Marathi and took home the prize money of Rs Rs 18.60 lakh and a shining trophy. The show was hosted by filmmaker Mahesh Manjrekar.
Among the five finalists and a wild card entry -- Megha, Pushkar Jog, Sharmishtha Raut, Aastad Kale, Sai Lokur and Smita Gondkar -- Pushkar and Smita emerged as the first and second runner-up, respectively. Smita was the clear fan favourite as well as host Mahesh Manjrekar’s choice but it was Megha who took home the trophy.
Megha got the lion’s chunk of fan votes during Bigg Boss Marathi but other housemates were irritated by her habit to gossip. This made her stay in the house something of a mixed ride. However, the Bigg Boss winner has left all that behind her. Speaking to Times of India, Megha said, “I would not like to confess anything nor I would like to apologise to anyone. I was like an open book inside the Bigg Boss house and said sorry whenever and wherever it was needed.” She also said that Sai was her biggest competition inside the house.
The Bigg Boss Marathi grand finale had performances by former contestants Resham Tipnis, Jui Gadkari, Rutuja Dharmadhikari, Rajesh Shringarpore and Sushant Shelar.
Bigg Boss format has been replicated across the regional market after the success of Hindi Bigg Boss. Other than Marathi Bigg Boss, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Bengali Bigg Boss have also been launched. With Bigg Boss Marathi gaining popularity, another season of the TV show seems imminent.
