Alison Brie, the star of comedy show Community believes not much has changed in Hollywood when it comes to the troubles faced by women actors.
The actor was at the screening of her new series Netflix series GLOW at the ATX Television Festival in Austin, Texas, on Sunday with co-star Betty Gilpin. The two were asked by Entertainment Weekly about ‘how things may or may not have improved for actresses in Hollywood since the show’s 1980s setting.’
“The audition process has not changed that much,” Brie said but also made clear that the audition process for GLOW was nothing like some of her past experiences.
She then went on to reveal how she was once auditioning for HBO’s Entourage and was asked to remove her top. “Early in my career, I auditioned for three lines on an episode of Entourage that I had to go on in a bikini!” she said. “Or like shorts and the tiniest shorts. And they were like, ‘Okay, can you take your top off now?’”
Brie did end up with the part.
Gilpin also talked about auditioning ‘for a room full of men’, and being asked to take her hair down after she completed the scene.
GLOW, will stream on June 23 on Netflix.
