Filmstars are known to work hard to get those perfect body contours for their onscreen roles, but television stars aren’t far behind. TV actor Mrunal Jain worked hard to give a flawless shot with his six-pack abs for his television show Hitler Didi. For the four-minute shot, he deprived himself of food and water, as he didn’t want to appear bloated.

Proud of the body he has built over nine years, Mrunal says, “Showing my physique in the best possible manner was my goal. I know I have a good body, so why not go the extra mile? It is an achievement for me and I worked very hard.” Being a Jain, Mrunal maintained his great shape by sticking to his pure vegetarian diet without eggs or mutton.

The actor also reveals that the shooting schedule was tough for him as he couldn’t drink or eat like he normally does. In this particular scene, his character Sameer Diwan is shown working out, doing boxing, martial arts and push ups. “The character is frustrated at not getting things his way and releases his pent-up anger through boxing. Otherwise, Sameer is a controlled person, who has a tight leash on his emotions. So it is like a turning point for him to be letting go of his anger. It will be a raw, unadulterated passionate scene,” he claims adding, “When you deprive your body of food and water and workout, it turns red. I survived on 3 chocolate bars and had just 300ml of water in 12 hours. The intensity needed for the scene was not just physical but heartfelt too.”

The scene, which was to be half- minute sequence initially, was extended to four minutes. It will be telecast tonight on Zee TV’s Hitler Didi.
