The TV adaptation of Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events has dropped its first trailer along with a premiere date announcement.
The Netflix series will be released on January 13, 2017. But if we’re to take the advice of Snicket in the promo (played by Patrick Warburton), we should “look away before this dire tale is even filmed and avoid the cruel whimsy and whimsical cruelties of what’s to come.”
The eight-episode series is based on Lemony Snicket’s (pen name of author Daniel Handler) book series of the same name and stars Neil Patrick Harris as the villainous Count Olaf. The dark comedy series has already been adapted into a film starring Jim Carrey as Olaf. Both the books and the adaptation is about the Baudelaire orphans, and their many guardians who will stop at nothing to obtain their inheritance.
Also starring is Joan Cusack (Justice Strauss), Malina Weissman (Violet Baudelaire) and Louis Hynes (Klaus Baudelaire).
