Shamata Anchan made her acting debut in filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker’s TV show Everest.

Shamata Anchan, who shot to fame with the television show Everest, considers herself lucky to have got the opportunity to work with actor Abhay Deol in her debut film, The Field. Shamata, who plays the role of Abhay’s wife in the film, shares how his support was a great comfort while they were shooting romantic sequences.

“I was slightly nervous given that it was my first film, but Abhay made me [feel] comfortable. He made sure that we discuss the scenes before facing the camera and that really helped. I play the role of his wife and there were few romantic scenes too. I was not really comfortable doing them but Abhay came up to me and explained how things work. I feel we share a good on-screen chemistry,” says Shamata, who is currently seen on the show Bin Kuch Kahe .

Shamata also can’t stop praising Abhay’s acting skills. “I have always been a fan of Abhay’s films. So, when I was offered the role opposite him, I just grabbed it without thinking twice. Even when I was not shooting, I was on the set watching him enact his part as there was so much to learn,” she adds.

The film has been shot in Mumbai and Delhi and also stars Ronit Roy, Neeraj Kabi and the The Mummy actor, Brendan Fraser. The Hollywood actor was recently in India to shoot for his part. Asked if Shamata met Brenden, she says, “I would have loved to but I didn’t have any scene with him.”
