Tamil TV actor Priyanka commits suicide, dispute with husband suspected

Priyanka was apparently staying apart from her husband of three years due to difference in opinion.

Popular TV actor Priyanka was found dead at her residence in Valasaravakam, Chennai on Wednesday morning. She was found hanging from a ceiling fan at her home by a domestic help. The actor who found fame with Tamil TV show, Vamsam, was allegedly facing trouble in her marriage. It is not clear if a suicide note has been recovered.

A case has been filed by Chennai Police and investigation has been started. An India Today report suggested that the actor was under a lot of family pressure. She got married in 2015 but was living separately from her husband for the last few months due to difference of opinion. The couple did not have any kids, which is reported to be the main cause of troubles and tension within the family.

Priyanka’s most popular role till date was as Jyothika in Vamsam that also starred Ramya Krishnan. The show ran for four years and ended in 2017.

A number of popular Tamil actors took their own lives in the recent past. TV host Sabarna killed herself by slitting her wrists; she wrote in her suicide note that she was struggling to land film opportunities. Another television actor Sai Prashanth committed suicide after struggling with depression.
