In a dramatic move coinciding with Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir’s U.S. visit, President Donald Trump has officially designated the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and its alias, the Majeed Brigade, as a Foreign Terrorist Organisation. The decision comes as the BLA wages deadly guerrilla attacks, from the March 2025 Jaffar Express hijacking killing 31 to suicide strikes in Karachi and Gwadar. With hundreds dead in 2024 alone, Pakistan’s military faces an escalating insurgency.
