A smoking power bank briefly disrupted train services at Buangkok MRT station in Singapore on Wednesday after a power bank inside a commuter's backpack began emitting thick smoke. Dramatic footage shows smoke pouring from the black bag as police officers use a dry-powder extinguisher to tackle the situation. A sudden burst of flame is also seen before the fire is quickly brought under control. The incident occurred at around 5pm local time on the North East Line. An officer from the Public Transport Security Command responded before Singapore Civil Defence Force crews arrived at around 5:10pm. No injuries were reported, and train services resumed within five minutes. The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
