China has issued a strong condemnation of Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s recent remarks on Taiwan, calling them a “serious violation” of the one-China principle and “blatant interference” in China’s internal affairs. At a press conference in Beijing, Chen Binhua, spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, responded to Takaichi’s comments that a potential Chinese attack on Taiwan could be a “survival-threatening situation” for Japan, justifying collective self-defence.
