Covid update: Bharat Biotech clarifies on volunteer’s death; vaccination date

- From India setting date for vaccination drive to volunteer dying in Bhopal, here are the top updates on coronavirus pandemic. India will be launching a vaccination drive in the country from January 16. PM Modi called it the world’s largest inoculation program in which 3 crore people will be vaccinated. Priority will be given to healthcare and frontline workers in the country. Meanwhile, a volunteer in Bhopal, who took part in Covaxin’s clinical trial, died on December 21. Bharat Biotech clarified that the death was unrelated to their vaccine. Doctors are suspecting that poisoning could be the cause of death. Also, UK’s Queen Elizabeth II and her husband Prince Philip were given Covid-19 vaccination. The news was released by a Buckingham Palace spokesperson.
