Covaxin for kids: Vaccine one step away from use in India for 2-18 age group

- An expert panel recommended Bharat Biotech’s Covid vaccine- Covaxin for use on children between the ages of 2 to 18 years on Tuesday. Final approval will be given by Drug Controller General of India. "Bharat Biotech has submitted data from clinical trials in the two - 18 age group for Covaxin to CDSCO (Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation). The data has been thoroughly reviewed by the Subject Expert Committee (SEC)... provided positive recommendations," the Hyderabad-based company said. Zydus-Cadila’s jab has already been approved for use on children above the age of 12 years while a third candidate for children’s Covid vaccine in India might be SII’s Novavax.
