- The Delhi Capitals (DC) became the first team to reach 20 points in IPL 2021 and assure themselves of a top-2 finish after beating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 3 wickets at the Dubai International Stadium on Monday. Opting to field, the Rishabh Pant-led side restricted CSK to 136/7 in 20 overs, despite Ambati Rayudu remaining unbeaten on 55. Axar Patel was once again the start with the ball with his spell of 2/18 in 4 overs. In response, Delhi stuttered throughout as Chennai kept chipping away with wickets at crucial junctures of the game. Shikhar Dhawan (39) gave a good start but was dismissed late in the innings. Eventually, it was Shimron Hetmyer's unbeaten 28 and his 36-run stand with Axar Patel that guided DC to a 3-wicket win with 2 balls to spare.
