Droupadi Murmu gets Z+ security after NDA declares her Presidential candidate

A day after the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) named Droupadi Murmu as its nominee for the President of India post, the centre has accorded Z+ category security cover to her. Armed commandos of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Odisha have already taken over her security, which has been provided to her all over India. Meanwhile, Murmu visited the Shiv temple in Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj district in her home state of Odisha and was seen sweeping the temple floor. The 64-year-old, firebrand Tribal leader, hails from Odisha and has served as the first woman governor of Jharkhand. Her political career began when she was elected to the local body of Rairangpur. She entered the state assembly in 2000 on a BJP ticket and served as a minister between 2000 and 2004 in the BJP-Biju Janata Dal (BJD) coalition. The presidential election will be held on July 18 to elect a successor to Kovind and the result will be out on July 21. Kovind’s term will end on July 24. Watch this video for more details.
