Censor Board is back in action; cancels TV screening of ‘The Danish Girl’

Updated on Mar 27, 2017 04:09 pm IST

The Central Board for Film Certification (CBFC) has found its latest victim in the Oscar nominated 2016 film, 'The Danish Girl'. According to a source close to the developments, the CBFC objected to the film due to its sensitive storyline. The channel's official twitter feed tweeted confirming the same. “The movie went to CBFC for clearance three months ago and they were sitting on it. And now they have cancelled the broadcast citing that the issue is very sensitive... CBFC has put a ban across channels, and now no other channel can also show the film,” the source shared. “We regret to inform you that Sony Le Plex HD is unable to telecast the much-awaited television premiere of the international acclaimed award-winning film 'The Danish Girl' on March 26 as the necessary certification to enable telecast of the movie has not been received,” the channel posted on its official Twitter account. The 'The Danish Girl', was released in India last year, was critically acclaimed by one and all.
