Residents of the second coldest inhabited town in the world are gearing up for the chilling winters by stocking up rations, fuel and medicines. With barely a few days to go for the harsh winters to set in when Indian Kashmir's remotest regions will be cut off from the rest of the valley, residents have converted their mud houses into virtual godowns. Temperatures often plummet to minus 40 degrees entigrade in winter and in 1990 it even dipped to minus 60.
