Watch: 2,600 kg mangoes for PM Modi, Mamata sent by Bangladesh PM Hasina

• Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina has sent mangoes to PM Modi, Mamata Banerjee. The 2,600 kilograms of Haribhanga mangoes were sent as gifts to the leaders. Sheikh Hasina has also sent 300 kgs of mangoes to Tripura CM Biplab Kumar Deb. Bangladesh Asst High Commissioner, Agartala presented the gift to Deb on behalf of Hasina. The Haribhanga variety of mango is grown in Bangladesh's Rangpur district. The mangoes were transported through the land border via Benapole checkpoint. This comes amid growing disquiet on Bangladeshi side over halting of vaccine exports from India. It is believed that Sheikh Hasina has also sent mangoes for President Kovind. In March, Dhaka was the destination for PM Modi’s first & only foreign visit since Covid outbreak. Mango diplomacy is part of the subcontinent's politics, but has been common between India and Pakistan.
