Rio Ferdinand confident boxing will fuel his competitive streak
Updated on Sept 20, 2017 11:39 am IST
Former Manchester United and England international footballer Rio Ferdinand has dismissed talks of challenging for a title and insisted he was “not disrespecting this sport” after announcing on Tuesday that he'll attempt to become a professional boxer. Ferdinand, who won 81 caps and made over 300 appearances for Manchester United, is an avid boxing fan and even admitted spending time boxing in the gym has helped clear his head a bit after losing his wife and the mother of his three children Rebecca Ellison to breast cancer in 2015.
