H1N1 Cases near 1,800 in Delhi: Why Is the Health Minister Holding a Meeting Today? Explained

Delhi is seeing a rise in H1N1 (swine flu) cases, prompting the city health department to step up surveillance and preparedness. Health Minister Pankaj Singh is set to meet municipal health officers and officials from government hospitals to review the situation. Authorities have directed hospitals to strengthen screening, reporting and monitoring of influenza-like illness and severe respiratory infections. Officials say treatment guidelines, home-care protocols and healthcare-worker training are already in place. Delhi has recorded 2,392 influenza-A cases this year, including 1,777 H1N1 cases.
