Hamas confirmed the "assassination" of its leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran. Hamas claimed that Ismail Haniyeh was killed in a "treacherous Zionist raid". Haniyeh and his bodyguard were killed in an attack on his residence in Tehran. Israel remains silent on Hamas's claims regarding its involvement in Haniyeh's killing, but an AP report suggested Israel often avoids commenting on Mossad-led assassinations.
