‘China doing masti, not dosti’: Union minister on app ban amid border clash

Union minister Ramdas Athawale welcomed the government's decision to ban 118 more Chinese apps. The decision was announced on September 2, days after China's fresh provocation along the Line of Actual Control in Ladakh. The newly-banned apps include the highly popular mobile game PUBG, WeChat and Xiaomi's ShareSave. This was the third such instance of a ban on Chinese mobile applications by India. The earlier lists included popular social media app TikTok. Athawale, who is Minister of State in the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, said that the decision was important to teach Beijing a lesson since the neighbouring nation was playing games of betrayal.
