Delhi Anaj Mandi fire: Watch locals rescuing victims as blaze breaks out

Locals helped rescue victims of a fire at a building in Delhi's Anaj Mandi. The visuals, captured by the residents, showed locals setting up a ladder to help victims climb out of the building. A grill at the window was also removed to help the people escape. A fire broke out in the 4-storey building in the early hours of December 8, 2019. Over 40 people were killed in the incident. The Delhi government ordered a magisterial inquiry, and announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the relatives of the deceased. The government also promised to pay for the treatment of the injured and give them Rs 1 lakh ex gratia.
