Students of Jamia Millia Islamia staged a protest on January 13, 2020. A demonstration was held outside the office of the Vice Chancellor of the varsity. The protestors' demands included an FIR against Delhi police personnel over the incidents which took place on December 15, 2019. On that day, anti-CAA protests in the vicinity of the university had turned violent with some protestors setting fire to vehicles and pelting stones. Police claim that they followed some violent protestors onto the Jamia campus. Students have claimed that they were assaulted by cops while they were studying in the library. The Vice Chancellor said that the process to file an FIR would begin on January 14.
