Meghalaya and Nagaland at the polls; Congress and BJP fight for the states

Updated on Feb 27, 2018 03:06 pm IST

Exit polls from Meghalaya and Nagaland are expected on February 27. In the poll bound Meghalaya and Nagaland, Congress and Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) have battle lines drawn. Both the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the President of the Indian National Congress Rahul Gandhi have minced no words in attacking each other in the run up to the poll. The Congress is fighting anti-incumbency whereas BJp is considered a firm favourite in both the states. The BJP has had a poor run in both Meghalaya and Nagaland in the last elections that took place in 2013. The party wasn't even able to garner 2% of the vote share in both the states. But things are looking different this time around under the leadership of Narendra Modi. Will Rahul Gandhi be able to trump Modi's juggernaut in these polls?
