New Zealand MP’s Sanskrit oath goes viral: Watch the video

A video of New Zealand's parliament member taking oath in Sanskrit went viral. Dr Gaurav Sharma, who is of Indian origin, posted a video of oath on November 24. Sharma said that he had taken the oath in Sanskrit to acknowledge his Indian heritage. Sharma also took oath in Te Reo Maori, an indigenous language. He took oath in Te Reo Maori to acknowledge Tangata Whenua, which is a term used to describe indigenous people of New Zealand. Sharma was elected to New Zealand parliament from West Hamilton. Amid the recent election campaign, New Zealand PM, Jacinda Ardern had visited a temple. Ardern had visited Radha Krishna Mandir in Auckland in August 2020. Watch the full video for more details.
